Monday Movie Review

This weeks movie review is a recommendation from a good friend, we will call him “F” for this blog. F recommended last weeks movie The Dragon Pearl. This weeks movie he said was really good and he liked it enough to buy it. He is obsessed with all things zombie so this movie is right up his ally. Here are my thoughts:

From IMDb:

After R (a highly unusual zombie) saves Julie from an attack, the two form a relationship that sets in motion a sequence of events that might transform the entire lifeless world.

Director: Jonathan Levine
Writers: Jonathan Levine (screenplay), Isaac Marion (novel)
Stars: Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Analeigh Tipton

My Review

I can honestly say I was surprised that I liked this movie, I mean it wasn’t the best movie ever but it was good. The idea of a zombie love story was a little odd, even Harrison said he didn’t want to watch a love story, but it came together well.

I found myself hoping the two would come together and “live happily ever after.” I really liked the flashbacks that showed more into Julie’s life before zombies.

The movie flowed really well right to the end with no slow points. All the actors did a fantastic job and the zombies looked great. There was quite a few parts that were so funny to.

I would recommend this as a funny movie to watch with friends.

Has anyone else seen Warm Bodies? What did you think?

Maybe F would like to add his review to the comments as it was his movie 🙂

Till next week

Monday Movie Review

This week I thought I would start something new……movie reviews. Being a single Mom I have to carve out “me time” in my schedule or it doesn’t happen :-). I love movies and I usually watch one on Sunday night while my son is at his Dads (unless it’s a movie he wants to watch). So why not give you my review the next morning. Keep in mind this is only how I liked the move and my own thoughts. I would love to hear from others who have seen the movie to! So with out further ado here is this weeks movie.

The Dragon Pearl (2011)

From IMDb:

Josh and Ling were expecting a boring vacation visiting each of their parents at an archaeological dig in China. But the new friends soon discover they’re right in the middle of an adventure when they find a Chinese Golden Dragon.

Director: Mario Andreacchio
Writers: Mario Andreacchio (story), John Armstrong (original script)
Stars: Sam Neill, Li Lin Jin, Louis Corbett

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ of 10 Stars for me.

I thought the move was just ok. I will watch pretty much anything about dragons (minor obsession) but this wasn’t as good as I expected.

I felt like the movie rushed along and the action scenes we bland. The whole story seemed a bit predictable.

On a positive note I thought the dragon was well done. The Golden Dragon was an oriential dragon, as opposed to a dinosaur type, which is what I expected and was pleased to see.

I think this movie would be great for younger children and that they would really enjoy it. It just wasn’t the best for me.
